Dwight's Monthly Letter - JULY 2013

It is July, and no doubt you’ve either taken some vacation time or are looking forward to some time away. I believe we all need to recoup and renew ourselves as well as our relationships with our family. But I want to encourage you not to take a vacation from your NewPointe weekend experience – it’s too important.

We’re not slowing down at NewPointe this summer, and starting this weekend we have a specially designed message series and weekend experience you won’t want to miss. It’s full of fun, filled with surprises, and has challenges to keep your spiritual life growing. This series will use Hollywood to teach us four epic characteristics that will grow our faith and help us realize truth that can set us free!
It’s called At the Movies:
  • July 7: Hunger Games
  • July 14: The Avengers
  • July 21: Wreck-It Ralph
  • July 28: Lincoln
Then, August 4 we have Community Impact Day. This is the day we close the church and go out into our communities and BE the church. It’s an incredible time to get the whole family involved, and it creates time to have unbelievable conversations with the people we have relationships with: our kids, neighbors, co-workers, etc. No doubt many people will raise the question, “Why are you doing this?” You see, too many people think it’s more important to go to church than ultimately BE the church. We say we are going to a service, when God really wants us to do a service. Jesus said, “I have come to serve, not to be served.” The church is His body. So on August 4, we are asking you not to go to a service, but to do a service. Each specific campus will have a list of opportunities for how you can be Jesus to your community. You see, what God really desires from us is to develop a vibrant relationship, and not just a ritual of going to church. Registration is required and there will be people to help each Sunday, July 7 through July 28.

I want you to know that I am so thankful for each and every one of you. We are making a difference throughout Northeast Ohio. I love the stories of life-change that I hear from each of our campuses.

Be safe, and continue to enjoy the summer!
