Only GOD (the book) - People’s Biggest Regret

Sociologist Anthony Campolo tells about a study in which 50 people over the age of 95 were asked one question: “If you could live your life over again, what would you do differently?” Three things consistently emerged. They would:
  • reflect more
  • risk more
  • do more things that would live on after I am dead
I am no expert on the book of Revelation, but I wonder what it means in Revelation 21:4 when it says that after we concluded our life here on earth and time is no more, God will wipe away the tears from our eyes. I wonder if we will shed those tears when we realize how much more we could have done, how much bigger our story could have been, and how much more positive change we could have worked in the world -- had we trusted more deeply and obeyed more completely.

God’s story is big, magnificent, noble, and heroic. It is beyond imagination. Isn’t it mind boggling that He invites you to write with Him, to obey Him and allow Him to write a story He can use to amaze the world. . .
. . . no matter what has happened to you,
. . . no matter how old or young you are,
. . . no matter how miserably you have failed,
. . . no matter how broken you feel,
. . . no matter how hard you have already tried?

God can accomplish in five minutes with your willing, cooperative heart what you can’t accomplish without Him in five years. All He asks is that you trust Him and write with Him.

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." (Isaiah 43:18-19).
