Dwight's Monthly Letter - Feb 2012

I want to thank all of you who committed to becoming a NewPointe Partner in 2012. The vision and mission to which God is calling will take all of us uniting and working together.

As I watch CNN and FOX News, I believe too many people are putting all their eggs in the basket of the political arena for the hope of America. I am sorry, but I believe that’s placing your hope in the wrong thing. I believe the local church is the hope of the world living and teaching the truth of Jesus Christ.

I have been told that in the next 2-3 years our community and Northeast Ohio is going to look completely different than what it does today. This will be due to the effects of the oil and gas industry. We can’t just focus on the money that this will generate. It will generate many other things. That can be good or bad - we can to decide. People are pouring into our communities. Are they going to influence us, or are we going to influence them? This is why we must fight the drift.

Here is a prayer that we must not only pray but live out:

Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.

We ask You to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.
