Christmas was fantastic. Got up in the morning Benjamin our youngest read for us the Christmas story from Luke 2 . Sarah then prayed and gave thanks for all that we have and enjoy and for the Christmas Eve service. We then opened up the gifts that we have got for each other. It was a great time sharing and giving.
The Mason family gather at our place around 4:00 for Christmas dinner. We had Turkey, Ham , mash potatoes, stuffing, home made noodles, broccoli casserole. rolls, sweet potatoes casserole.
Then we all gather in the family room. This year we decided not to buy gifts for each other and instead we gave to each person’s favorite ministry to help the poor and to write a prayer a day for each of the family members . We went around the room and shared which ministries we gave too.
We then handed out all the cards that people had wrote their prayers and words of encouragement. It was great watching people read their cards, wiping away tears as they read them.
Some said it has been the best Christmas ever. Could that be possible with fewer gifts and more giving to others who are in need ? It has proven so.
My father then closed it out by reminding us what him and mom had tried to do for us as kids.
First, to give us and teach us about a faith in Christ.
Second, to provide so that we could either get a college education or a start in our career.
Third, to be able to die debt free, so that they would not be a burden on us kids and would be able to bless us. He said that continues to look right on course , as long as he doesn’t go on a spending spree.
Great Time. Great Family. Great Christmas .
I am truly blessed.
