People are hurting all around us.
Yesterday I was at a restaurant with a group of friends. I did something that I had never done before. When the waitress came to our table, I felt nudged by the Holy Spirit to say to her, “We are going to pray for our lunch in a few minutes. Is there anything we could pray for you about?”
I struggled with even asking her about this. I thought “she is going to think I am crazy weird or I am going to make her feel very uncomfortable or awkward”.
When I did it every one at the table looked surprised, but not as surprised as when we heard her answer. She immediately started to tear up, and began to apologize . She said, “I can’t cry while I am waiting on tables.” I assured that it was ok, and she told us that her father died last week. Monday they were executing the will and it was harder than she realized. She said that she was going through a very difficult time.
I said, “I am so sorry” and then said, “Let’s pray”. It was an unbelievable experience. I thought to myself, “Look at what you would have missed if you would have grieved your best friend, the Holy Spirit.”
I am convinced that fear is the main reason many of us grieve the Holy Spirit, and in grieving him we miss out on being a blessing as well as being blessed.
What is the Holy Spirit nudging you to do?
Don’t miss the next opportunity.
