One of the biggest challenges of any parent is to make sure that your children are prepared to enter the world. We have to realize that it will be pretty hard for them to learn on the go. It will lead them down a path of brokenness and hardship.
I just gave our daughter a book to read. It is called “ Kissed The Girls & Made Them Cry”.
Guess what? I am paying her to read it.
It is a book that is very straight forward about sexual purity.
Here are a couple of quotes from the book:
“We must allow romantic love to rest and dream until the time of its awakening so natural passion will remain dormant, but at the same time we must arouse a passionate love for God.”
“If you want a guy to appreciate you for your mind, don’t overwhelm him with your cleavage and navel.”
"[As] women we always stand to lose so much more than men when we give in. Men love adventure and intrigue while women crave intimacy, romance and passion. We were created for so much more than a sexual outlet for men, and as women, we want and deserve more than just sexual release for ourselves. It is time to restore dignity, honor, strength-- and yes, even power-- to generations of women, young and old, who are no longer willing to lose."
Many times we reward our kids for doing chores, working on their favorite sports or practicing their musical instruments. I would encourage you to reward them for reading great books that will prepare for the challenges they will face when they leave home.
Don’t let your son or daughter leave home with out knowing how to
* Manage money
* Handle conflict
*Develop a personal relationship with God
* Develop a work ethic
* Sustain healthy relationships
My biggest and most important role is not at work , but at home.
It is also my greatest challenge.
