Heaven

The other night I was visiting my mom & dad. We were just reflecting on life, enjoying stories and sharing good times. Before I left, my mother mentioned that she really would like to just go on to heaven. She asked if I thought it would be wrong to pray that way. I said no I don’t believe so. It is really something that all of us long for.

The bible states: Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man , what God has in store for those who love Him.

Paul, said, I am torn between the two. For me to live is Christ and to die is gain

So before I left, I prayed to our Heavenly Father that at His time, to send His angels to usher Mom into his glorious presence. Absent from the body present with the Lord.

To those in the Steroid Argument . . .

1Timothy 6:10 “ for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief’s .. "

This is being lived out in front of our eyes. Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Reggie Bush, Kelvin Sampson, Brian McNamee have pierced themselves with many grief’s and it basically goes back to money ….

My thought is that they wanted to play longer, get a bigger contract, have a promising career after sports etc . . .

This is no doubt just a small glimpse of our society today. No doubt there are hundreds of thousands of people who have done the same, yet will never be on the news .

Proverbs tells us “Above all else, guard your heart , for out it flows the issues of life.”

Paradox

My mother went back into the hospital Monday, for further tests in her battle with cancer. The doctors told us that my mother has stomach cancer that is inoperable.

What can I say? It is a very sad time for the Mason family. But in the middle of all of this is great testimony of faith. Mom told us how ready she is to go to Heaven. She said since being a little girl she has tried to stay on that path to get her there.

She quoted proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all of your ways acknowledge Him , and He will direct your path."

The life that she has lived before her God and family is of a great comfort to all of us. Though none of us would choose for her to leave this world at this time, she is comfortable with it. I am a firm believer that when you have lived life well, you can embrace death well.

Thank you for all of your prayers through all of this.

Champs!

Jonathan and Benjamin Mason played in their grade level Basketball Tournament this past week. Jonathan played on the 5th & 6th grade basketball team. Benjamin played on the 3rd & 4th grade basketball team. Both of them played a significant role in helping their teams win their tournament.

We have champs in our house!
It has given them a taste of what it feels like to be a Champion. I am pretty sure that they like it. They both have been dribbling a basketball ever since.
It was a great day. It started at 8:00 am and didn't finish until 1:30. It was worth every minute!

First Wednesday - Wow

Great Time! Great Worship!

Last night was First Wednesday. It was a refreshing and refocusing time. I really enjoyed it.

The singing was good, the teaching was challenging, the communion time was very challenging.

It was just a great evening.

But what got me really excited was this: I usually sit three quarters of the way back in the room, when I am not involved in leading. As we were singing, I looked around and saw people celebrating God’s love and goodness. What moved me is that I know some of their stories. I know how God has worked in their lives. I know how far they have come in life.

There is not much more in life that is satisfying at least on this side of heaven.

It is truly fun and fulfilling to see our mission in action: Leading people into a growing relationship with Christ, in HD, reality.
